Deposit and security policy

How deposits, pre-authorisations and damage responsibilities are typically handled.

1. Purpose of deposits

For many vehicles, especially halo and high-value models, a security deposit or card pre-authorisation is required. This is used solely to cover excesses, damage, missing fuel, unreasonable cleaning or unpaid fees that fall within your responsibility under the rental agreement.

2. Amount and timing

The deposit amount depends on the specific vehicle and insurance structure and will be communicated in your quotation and confirmation. Deposits are usually taken shortly before handover and released once the vehicle has been returned and inspected, subject to the terms below.

3. Inspections and deductions

Vehicles are inspected with you at the start and end of the rental. Where new damage, excessive wear or missing items are found, the team will explain the assessment and any related charges. Only the amount needed to cover documented costs and agreed excesses will be deducted from the deposit.

4. Return of unused deposits

Any unused portion of a deposit or pre-authorisation is released promptly after the final inspection. The speed at which funds become available again depends on your card issuer or bank and may take several working days.

5. Additional charges

In the unlikely event that costs exceed the deposit amount, the rental agreement may require additional payment up to the applicable excess. The concierge team will always communicate clearly and provide supporting documentation where charges apply.

6. Contact

If you have questions about how deposits work for a particular vehicle or itinerary, please ask the concierge before confirming your booking. This summary does not replace the detailed wording in your confirmation and insurance documents.
